Vision: To provide lifelong health and wellness for all residents of Gbonokalansue Township and surrounding villages.
Rhythms of Africa International Inc.
We pledge to awaken within the conscience of our people a sense of renewed hope when so often there seems to be none. We can do this together. We will no longer doubt our resolve to inspire and lead them to a productive and healthier lifestyle. For too long they have cried out for help and have had none. For too long common, treatable illnesses have taken the precious lives of our people. We seek to end this scourge with the help of our local and international friends in this worthy humanitarian undertaking in this remote part of Liberia.
Thus, a vision to build a fully furnished modern Clinic in Gbonokalansue Township, Suakoko District, Bong County, Liberia was birthed. The Clinic, The Nadyne Kiapeh (her Liberian name) Ricks Memorial Clinic, is intended to be a beacon of hope for thousands of people from several districts and villages. It will be an inpatient clinic with several examination rooms, laboratory, doctors and nurses’ quarters, pharmacy, waiting room, chapel, offices, and morgue. Upon completion, the clinic will serve many people from hundreds of towns and villages near and afar.
The songwriter Mahalia Jackson puts it this way:
“If I can help somebody as I pass along,
If I can bring back beauty to a world up wrought,
Then my living shall not be in vain.”
The clinic is named after Ms. Nadyne Kiapeh Ricks, a missionary nurse, who left her home of comfort in the United States to serve the people of this area during the 1950s and 1960s. Her unwavering love for the people and her untiring devotion to their wellbeing is a story being handed down from one generation to the next.
With the realization of our vision, a new healthier environment will emerge; a new rhythm will be heard coming out of Africa: A Rhythm of Hope – not despair.
